Emeritus Professor Michael Cardew-Hall PhD, BSc(Hons), CEng, FIMechE, FIEAust

Michael is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Institution of Engineers Australia. He held technical and management positions with GEC and Rolls-Royce Aero Engines in the UK prior to joining the Australian National University (ANU) in 1993.  He has been an active researcher with much of his work carried out in collaboration with industry partners. 

Following eleven years as Pro-Vice Chancellor-Innovation at the ANU, he has an ongoing interest in technology transfer, commercialisation and industrial policy and has been involved in a number of spin off start-up companies. He has served as a Director of the Australian Solar Institute, Lithicon AS, Simile Systems, Cicada Innovations, and is currently Chair of the Board of Australian Scientific Instruments, the Social Research Centre Pty Ltd and a Venture Partner with Significant Capital Ventures.

He was previously CEO of ANU Connect Ventures (ANUCV), a pre-seed venture capital fund associated with the ANU and is currently Chair of the Board of ANUCV and a member of the investment committee. He has also held the positions of Head of the Department of Engineering, Deputy Dean, and Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the Australian National University.
